May Excitement

Well, I have been back from my trip about 6 weeks...it has gone fast, so many things going on. I went to a Ladies Conference the Saturday I got back. Then it was Easter weekend. Then I had counselor training weekend at IRBC. Then the next weekend I went scrapping all weekend, my project was the baby book. :-) The next weekend, I went to Madie's birthday party roller skating. And this weekend...

well, this weekend, my 5th niece made an appearance. I think her birthstory will need to include weather details. I drove in hail to go over to Lynn's house. Then when we were at the hospital meeting the new arrival, we had a tornado warning. Ever had to go to a safe place in a hospital?

So that's the excitement for May. I wonder what next week and next month will bring??!?!!?

Carlos Paz Bridge

Friday in Argentina was spent in

Villa Carlos Paz. That evening, we viewed the bridge lit up in multiple colors, very cool.

These pictures, courteousy of Paul Avery, are probably the best ones of me.

Thanks, Paul, for the photos. Hope you enjoyed the cookies and the Doritos!! Ha ha!

Coming home

Crossing the Andes Mountains

Howdy!
Sorry, I've been a little tired or playing catch up being back Stateside! I have been back to work and also done a few fun things as well.
My travel transportation all went well. I thank God for that. I had no major problems, layovers, or turbulence. I know people were praying for me. Thank you to all my friends and families who did pray for me! I know God answers prayer!!! It was an encouragement to hear from several who told me they were praying! I am blessed!!!
The day I got back, Lynn and I went to a Twins baseball game versus Kansas City. TWINS won! ;-) Also fun to go to a game when they win!
That Saturday, I attended a Martha Peace conference here in the cities. I enjoyed what she had to say and things of course I need to work on and improve.
And now, I am looking forward to celebrating the Blessed Resurrection, Easter Sunday.
I pray you will worship our RISEN Lord, not just tomorrow, but every day.

Paysandu to Cordoba

Jo Anna, Sofia, and I traveled by bus up to Paysandu. It was an enjoyable time (mostly, except for the side trip to the Policia to file a report). Jo showed me all around her home stomping grounds. It was fun to see Daniel, Carrie, and the boys too. I enjoyed attending their midweek service and worshipping together even though I couldn't understand everything they were saying, but I am picking up more & more words.

Then I took an overnight bus to cross the border into Argentina and arrived in Cordoba Thursday morning. I caught sight of Joanna and Julia before they could find me (someone wasn't paying attention to the incoming buses)--it was fun to catch them before they could get up! Wow! It's been a full three days. I've been walking around the town, as well as Carlos Paz, and today was Kids Club.
Tonight, we made pizza and snickerdoodle cookies for Paul! :-)
It's been a fun trip...can't think about going home in under 48 hours...

Zoo Time--Where the wild things are

I had a great Monday morning at the Durazno Zoo with Paul, Jo Anna, Felicia, and Sofia. It was a quick run through of the zoo, but very enjoyable. There were lots of species to see and it ended up being a sunny day!
The bears were fun to see as the caretaker was in the pen to wash down the area and feed them. We didn't see the tigers up close, but they were out sunning themselves. The lions were penned up nearby but we heard their roars...quite loud!!!
I enjoyed the colorful birds, the flamingos, toucans, and parrots. It was fun!!!!
I'll post the photos later when I can attach them. Thanks for your patience.

Durazno: A peachy good time

I am spending the next leg of my journey in Durazno, Uruguay with Paul & Jo Anna Harmon, daughters Felicia and Sofia. www.heartofuruguay.com

Today, I made Paul very happy as I stirred up a batch of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. He had a big smile on his face this evening and a full tummy!

In the 2 days or so that I have been here, I have seen where Felicia goes to school, met a couple of the people that they minister to, and of course, gotten to know little miss Sofia, as she was just born in December. :-) She likes to smile for me! I haven't decided if I will teach her any bad habits before I leave.

I am looking forward to Sunday and experiencing their ministry here.

Out of Chile into Uruguay

My Day began in Santiago, Chile and now ending in Durazno, Uruguay. I was greeted at the airport by Paul, Jo Anna, Felicia, and Sophia. It was neat to meet the baby, and she even had some smiles for me.
Sorry, this is short, but the travel is catching up a bit.....

Play time!!

Monday, we walked over to the Stadium and park that is very close to their home.
The kids & I even had a great workout time.

Tuesday found us heading for the beach. The sun came out and we frolicked in the COLD Pacific Ocean waves.

I am thankful to have this time with the Flinck family. I appreciate their hospitality and warmth in their home to welcome me to Chile!

Villarrica Lava Flow

After visiting the camp, we drove a short distance to see the lava flow (1970s) from the Villarrica Vulcano.

The lava flow goes all the way down to the river. Photo by David. :-)

Singing

A taste of the singing...can you name this tune?

Hope you enjoy this.

Sunday was a wonderful day of worship. Truly a bit challenging for me as it was in a different language, but I enjoyed it just the same.
I enjoyed the enthusiasm with which the Chilean greet one another, everyone the same. Very refreshing. I did recognize the tunes of a couple of the songs, but let's just say I need to learn how to read music in Spanish--David leaned over and said, "Turn the page". I wasn't used to a song going onto the next page! :-)
It's also a joy to see how the people are so loving to the children and myself as a new comer. I was even welcomed in the middle of the service--not that I completely understood what they were saying, but it was quite obvious when Julio said Americano and I could feel almost everyone's eyes find me, and they all laughed. :-)
Thanks for letting me be a part of the 21 Mayo Iglesia.

Camp Time

I awakened refreshed this morning having slept over 8 hours!!! We had pancakes for breakfast, and then took a car trip. We drove to Lican Ray the camp where Liz & Dan Thompson, Kristi's brother, are along with the 4 children.
I was shown around the grounds and was able to see how their camp functions. Very cool for me.

Arrival

There is no I in Temuco, but there is a ME! :-) Hee Hee Hee.

I left Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon, flew to Dallas and overnight flew to Santiago. After customs and international policia, I flew further down to Temuco! Kristi & Kaylee were waiting inside to greet me after getting my HEAVY bag, that surprisingly didn't cost any extra! Thanks, God! I have since unloaded several goodies at the Flincks. We had a lovely lunch, and now looking forward to supper. Isn't that great fellowship, FOOD!?! :-)
It was rainy when I touched down, but since has turned partly sunny. Looking forward to more chatting this evening. Thanks for your prayers! I'll let you know more of my exciting adventures once I get caught up on some sleep, or maybe I'll catch up sleep in late April!!!
Chao!!!

Beautiful Grandma

I went on Sunday afternoon to visit Grandma. The last time I was there, I was going to paint her nails, but she didn't want purple. So I got some pink.
And here she is, fingers all done! Isn't she pretty!!?!!! I love my Grandma!

Weekends...

On a Saturday in February I went to do cookies with the girls! Yippee! We had so much fun doing the heart cookies and frosting. (I won't attach any pictures right now, but if you want to see some on Shereen's site, check them out over there www.wolters-family.blogspot.com.)

The next weekend I went down to Iowa, and the weekend after that found me spending time with Grandma Jean since she is in a care center for a bit. Suz set up a caring bridge page for her, if you want to check out that and keep up to date on the happenings. I enjoyed my night and day with Grandma. I love spending time with family, whenever I can.

This weekend, I was trying to get some things done around the house. The going is slow, but I must get in high gear as I countdown 4 weeks....

Why four weeks????? Well, a few people know, but others are asking so they must have forgotten....I am sooo excited...can't wait, can't wait!!!! Look for more details later!

2011

So, wow. I mean whoops. It's been a while since I posted. I hope to do better this year. Have to see about that.
Sometimes life just gets busy, or I just let things get out of whack. I've been trying to keep up on correspondence, but that isn't really happening very well. Maybe I can work on that for 2011.
What's happening with you? Check in with me and let me know!
