Howie's Humber Happenings: On Location ;->

Hello from Humberside! I thot I'd better blog & get caught up.

Saturday was a day for a drive. We went to Olney. That is where John Newton's grave is located and the church where he was. We ate at a lovely little delicatessen that was so quaint. The food was lovely! Stan is a regular visitor there when he brings the "tourists" through the area. We ate a traditional Ploughman. The plate consisted of ham, pork pie, salad, chutney, cheese, and bread.
On this trip we have seen a couple places relative to Pilgrim's Progress. Guess what is on my book list when I get home? Saturday we saw the cross representing where Pilgrim lost his burden. The other day we had seen House Beautiful.
Saturday night was a bit of fun...we watched National Treasure 2 and ordered Domino's. Same food, just call it a different name.
Sunday was a full day of church. Stan spoke on Nehemiah in the morning. For the evening time, Chris led us all in a prayer time for each other and different aspects of ministries. It was a lovely time. Afterwards, some of the guys came over for viewing FLYWHEEL. Very good film if you haven' t seen it (JILL, you need to get this!). It's the same church that did Facing the Giants and Fireproof.
Monday morning we departed from the house about 9:30 to catch a train up north. As per our normal schedule of events, we did encounter a bit of a delay and changeup. But hey, we're on vacation, so we just go with the flow. The train service was not fully operational so we had to catch a different one, which put us at the track at the moment the train departed the station. So we caught a later train...and then eventually got to the bus station to get to our hotel. We are obviously not from around here as the locals said it was but a short walk...We calculate that it was about 2 miles. (Dad's feet say it was further.) The location is very nice, if you're into nature and that is where we are. :-)
Ok, by this time are you asking where the photos are? Yes, Howie, where are the photos? Well, I left the cord at the house, so I can't upload any photos tonight. I guess you will have to check back. Of course, if you need to "mentally visualize" something, picture a state park in the fall. The ducks are a lovely soundtrack for our evening sleep. (It's a little warm in our room so we have the windows open & it's a bit brisk.) The view out our room is the pond. It should be interesting to get a good look in the morning.
Hope your day is well. Reporting on location, L8R, G8R, ~Howie

  1. Heidi!! We have received a Valentine from you and your Dad...How fun it was to get!! It sure sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Everytime we pray Madeline is very consistent in remembering, "Hhhheidi, Bahpah, Rober." If I forget she will keep praying and won't eat until we have prayed for you all. love ya Shereen
